We’ve uploaded some new swimming tales from FOGLs, you’ll find them by following the link on the right here.
There’ll be more to come soon, including an account of how the increasing interest and resurgence in the popularity of outdoor swimming is being embraced by Surrey swimmers as over 70 people attended the Big River Jump in the Wey on July [...]

Swim Events
We know that several FOGLs have been taking part in various organised swimming events this season. We’ve heard from those using the Lido to train for the British Gas Great London and Great East Swims and the inaugural Blue Mile in Plymouth for example. We hope to share some of their experiences in the newsletters and [...]
Summer Solstice swim
Come and celebrate the start of summer in a uniquely Lido-esque way with an early morning, Summer Solstice Swim on Monday 21st June – and you don’t even have to be one of Guildford’s pagans or druids to enjoy it, the pool’s open to all. We can’t manage a sunrise opening, but swim into summer from 6.30am.

BBQ tickets on sale now!
We’re pleased to say that the tickets for the summer BBQ are now on sale from Lido reception. Tickets cost £7 (£6 for season-ticket holders) each and we’d love to see as many FOGLs support this once very popular social event.

June challenge anyone?
Get fit for summer by swimming outdoors every day of the month of June.
Taking an idea posted on the Outdoor Swimming Society facebook page to swim outdoors every day through the month of June, if anyone fancies taking up the challenge it would be fun to collate and publish here or in the newsletter people’s June [...]
Swimming tales
We’ve updated the Swimming Tales page. We’d really like to have as many tales from Lido users and FOGLs over the summer as we can, keep them coming in and we’ll pop them on the page.
Want to star in a film with Olympic Swimmer, Mark Foster?
Back in March, FOGL were asked to help a British film maker produce a film at the Lido which will feature Olympic swimmer Mark Foster. We’re delighted to confirm that the film is going ahead and FOGLs will have the chance to get more involved as extras and get a peek behind-the-scenes. The film is an original, [...]
Finding the Lido again after all these years
Newly recruited FOGL, Hugh Thacker tells us how he’s got involved again with the Lido after 25 years away and how it’s playing a key part in his training for a solo attempt at swimming the Channel this September in aid of 2 charities.
On the 1st May I headed off to Guildford for an early morning [...]
