Here we share the stories of our members, some are epic and inspirational involving the more serious swimmers amongst our membership (and those who just like reading other’s achievements) whilst others are sociable, leisurely swimming accounts. We know the Lido is home to a very wide variety of swimmers and we would like to invite everyone to share any tales they wish to share to show how our Lido plays a part in their swimming life – big, small, regular, occasional, however and with whoever you enjoy swimming, we want to hear from you.

SATURDAY 17th JULY “FLUME ACROSS LONDON” “FROM ARCHES TO ARCHWAY” This is the third year i have done this,and my aim is to visit 2 well known london locations ARCHES LEISURE CENTRE GREENWICH(in the south!) and ARCHWAY LEISURE POOL ISLINGTON (in the north!) and travel between them by public transport! has anyone else done this before?

Results of the BUTLINS FLUME CHALLENGE! During the week a total of 145 DESCENTS were made on the flumes! FRIDAY 2nd JULY PELLS POOL LEWES=50 LENGTHS AT 50 METRES! LEWES LEISURE CENTRE=32 DESCENTS+32 LENGTHS AT 25mt! SATURDAY 3rd JULY OLYMPOS BURGESS HILL>>FALLING RAPIDS=10>>SLOW FLUME=10>>>FAST FLUME=10>>>INDOOR RAPIDS=5 CIRCUITS>>OUTDOOR RAPIDS=5 CIRCUITS>>25mt POOL=6 LENGTHS>>”AZTEC LIDO”=6 LENGTHS (unspecified distance) FINALLY GUILDFORD LIDO =60 LENGTHS AT 50 METRES! TOTAL FLUME DESCENTS=207>>TOTAL LENGTHS/CIRCUITS=164!!! WELL DONE I MUST SAY!!!

Results of uxbridge lido debut swim>>>50 LENGTHS AT 50 METRES! this took about 2HOURS and at first it was freezing cold as unlike guildford lido UXBRIDGE LIDO is not heated at all! so be warned! for most of the time i had the pool all to myself as the unheated waters were putting people off and in my opinion it should be warmed as guildford lido is,as this would attract more of todays clientele!

Results of “THE BRIGHTON SWIM N FLUME CHALLENGE” The King Alfred Hove>>>>20 DESCENTS on the 20 metre flume+21 Lengths at unspecified distance i estimate to be around 25mt! TOTAL (flume and lengths) 41 points! Prince Regent Pool Brighton>>>18 Descents on the 20 metre flume +36 LENGTHS at 25mt! unfortunately due to a first aid incident caused by someone getting into difficulty at the bottom of the flume it was closed after this but i carried on clocking up the lengths to a total of 36 lengths! Final total (flume and lengths) 54 points! Well done i must say! Anyone ever done this before? And does anyone have any idea how far i swam and flumed?

Monday 31st MAY BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY THE BRIGHTON FLUME CHALLENGE “KING ALFRED Vs PRINCE REGENT” this will be my first attempt at this, and the aim is to establish a record for most descents in 1 hour on the 20 metre flumes at these 2 famous Brighton Locations! as well as lengths at 25mt in between!

FRIDAY 25th JUNE—SATURDAY 3rd JULY “SPLASH 2010″ my annual BUTLINS FLUME CHALLENGE THIS YEAR AT BOGNOG REGIS! (sessions “on flume” Daily Final thursday 1st JULY.Friday 2nd JULY >>PELLS POOL LEWES>>believed to be the oldest open air pool in the uk! another 50 lengths at 50 metres? Later from 5-7pm “LEWES LEISURE CENTRE REVISITED” after an absence of several years i return to perform “on flume” on the 40 metre flume by the famous english flumemaker STUART LEISURE LTD as this is one of countless examples of their work! SATURDAY 3rd JULY The TRIANGLE BURGESS HILL >>3 flumes by that other well known english flumemaker “AQUAGLIDE” and the new “AZTEC LIDO” Finally later in the day to conclude my epic marathon i return to GUILDFORD LIDO for another 50 lengths at 50 metres! where better to end this marathon! i hope other members will be at guildford lido on saturday 3rd JULY to welcome my return!
