Bad news for any of us wanting to swim in our lovely Lido through September – closing date for the season is the weekend of 5th-6th September.
So far as we are aware, this is the earliest closing for many years – if not ever. Let us know your thoughts by posting a comment here, or by emailing us and we’ll be sure to pass on the views of FOGL members to the Lido management. That’s what we’re here for.

I would love the lido to be open for longer every day but accept that weather and usage may not justify this throughout the season. A good compromise would be to tailor the hours to the time of year. Long opening day for June July and August (and all weekends) with shorter sessions (eg 10am – 4pm) in April May and September. In the 20 years I have swum in the lido the weather has always been idyllic in September.

Such a shame. The lido is under-valued and also under-publicised. September’s weather is often better than much of July & August, it seems a waste shutting the lido so early in September where there is sure to be business, (and clement weather). Let’s not encourage the summer to finish early!

How disappointing. Having been out of the country a fair bit the last few weeks, I was looking forward to a blissful return to swimming in my favourite pool well into September as in past years. Bad decision in my view.
