As we probably all know, one of the immediate casualties of the tightening of government spending is the closure at the end of the month of the free swimming programme for the over 60s around the country, which of course affects the Lido.
However, Spectrum management have announced that the over 60s can swim at a concessionary rate of £2.90 or take advantage of a new reduced price season ticket for the remainder of the Lido swimming season at a cost of only £17.50.
More details can be found at www.guildfordlido.co.uk

Although the end of the free swimming is disappointing, it’s good to hear that some efforts to ease the situation have been introduced. We received this into the FOGL inbox earlier, and it seems the arrangements are appreciated by those affected:
“I have really appreciated being able to swim in such a splendid pool, and
I am glad to hear that there will be a concessionary Season Ticket for the
rest of the season for those of us who will lose the Government funding to
pay for our swimming”.
