Now as luck would have it, we have a sunny weekend forecast, just as the pool gets hit by technical problems! Due to circumstances beyond the control of the management, which they’re working hard to sort out, there will be a restriction on numbers this weekend. This is of course not the best news we have to share with you all, but we’ve been assured the problems should be sorted out very soon and they’ll do their utmost to ensure normal operation as soon as possible, but it won’t be over the weekend.
So to avoid the chance you might have to queue over the weekend, we suggest swimming early or late to avoid the peak times. The pool opens at 10am and closes at 6.30pm and if you visit after 4.30pm the entrance fees are cheaper anyway!
We’re as sorry about any inconvenience anyone experiences as the management are, and wish them well in getting the technical issues resolved asap. We’ll do our best to keep everyone posted on progress.

Funny you should say that Jim, I literally have just posted on our Facebook page about parking at Spectrum and walking down, we did it this afternoon and much, much preferred it to battling it out in the overflow carpark.
We managed to make our own “lane” we bobbed along in each others wake quite nicely! We left at 5ish and people were still coming in, great to see it so.

To be honest any day after a great big hot sunny day is usually a bit hard on the poor old filters. This morning the water was cloudy but I have seen worse. Lovely swim under a blue sky on one of the hottest mornings this year.
We need to let people know that parking is available at the Spectrum – only a short walk away – if the Lido park is full up.
The other thing to remember is that big hot sunny days and lane swimming dont really mix that well. Its not a Guilford-only thing as I gather the same dilemma arises at Tooting. The savvy lane swimmer will go early or late in the day and wont even try to get in on a really hot day. The full complement of lifeguards have their hands full watching the pool let alone keeping kids out of any lanes. On such days I think you have to accept that its the big in-rushes of recreational swimmers that make the money and on days like this they have the priority!

I needed to get in the sea today but before I left for Hayling Island I had a quick drive past the car park. No signs of queues although Sunday may be an even better day. In an ideal world filters and pumps would never fail. Let’s hope the problems can be sorted. Great to see the first “full pool width” session of the year.

Visiting later in the day was always part of my plan today, it was busy but perfectly organised, parking was perfect, no queuing, no problems. From the relative quiet of the early morning sessions I’ve been enjoying the past few weeks, it was quite a transformation this afternoon. Good to see it being enjoyed by so many.

We’ve just got back from the Lido and it was brilliant to see it busy, full of happy people, kids, youngsters, families and a few “regulars” enjoying the first sunny weekend of the season. Even with any problems the pool might have this weekend, the staff are clearly coping and the place is doing well, a very welcome sight.

As at 14:00 on Saturday there were only about 800 people on site (including 120 in the water,) and I am told they won’t start restricting entry until the number reaches 1500 people. The whole pool is open, and the cafe and the snack shack. They expect much greater numbers on Sunday
