Although the summer’s sadly over for Guildford Lido – non-one’s told the weathermakers, what a fantastic day today for an outdoor swim. Although we don’t have our lovely Lido to swim in, we’re not ready yet to end our outdoor swimming quite so early, so if anyone would like to share their ideas for where we can all continue to enjoy our outdoor swimming please post here so we can gather ideas for everyone to enjoy.
What a lovely day for an outdoor swim

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames offers free swimming to the over-60s until 31st March 2011. Until 31st March 2010 this also includes Hampton Pool although session times are limited. Swimmers don’t have to live in the Borough of Richmond, but do need to apply for a Leisure Card. All you need to know should be here:

Also, there isn’t an upper age limit on using the slides. (I checked.)

Look at the lost revenue for the Lido this weekend, the place would have been packed I’m certain of it. Let’s hope lessons are learned not to close early next year.

There’s been wonderful weather all this week and I have been swimming every day in an open air unheated pool in my neighbour’s garden. 17 degrees water temperature – chilly but fabulously refreshing after a day’s work!

Hampton Outdoor pool was very nice yesterday – not as good as Guildford of course, but still very nice
